Membership Policy and Guidelines

Duties and Responsibilities of Members

  1. Payment of the Minimum Share Capital
  2. Payment of Mortuary Aid Plan (MAP) contributions
  3. Payment of Membership Fee
  4. Completion of the PMES Course
  5. Approval by the Board of Directors of his application

Rights of Members

  1. Participate in deliberations during membership meetings.
  2. Vote on all matters brought on all such meetings.
    • Members are entitled to vote when they have complied with all the qualifications for membership and are members in good standing.
  3. Seek any elective position, subject to the Qualifications and Disqualifications for Officers.
  4. Avail of the services without discrimination whatsoever upon compliance with the conditions and requirements thereof.
  5. Inspect and examine the books of accounts, the minutes, the share register, and other records of the coop during office hours and to exercise other rights and privileges of membership with the exception of the Individual Ledgers which shall be examined with the consent of the owner.
  6. Members are entitled to vote when they have:
    1. Paid the required membership fee of Fifty Pesos (P50.00) and the value of at least one hundred(100) shares, as provided in Section 2, Art. II of the By Laws.
    2. Not been delinquent in the payment of his capital contributions and accounts.
    3. Not violated any provision in the By Laws, rules and regulations, circulars/memoranda and any other issuances of the CDA, membership and subscription agreements and other instruments required of him to exercise as provided in these By Laws or as prescribed by the Board of Directors.
    4. Attended and completed the prescribed cooperative seminars.
    5. Patronized regularly the business of the cooperative and participates in its parliamentary affairs.
    6. Complied with all obligations, duties and undertakings of membership.

Termination/Withdrawal of Membership

  1. Membership in the cooperative may be terminated either by expulsion or by withdrawal.
  2. Withdrawal - A member who desires to terminate his membership by withdrawal shall submit application to the Board of Directors.
  3. Expulsion - A member may be terminated for any of the following causes by a majority vote of all the members of the BODs following due process:
    • Continuous failure to comply with his obligations.
    • Violation of the provisions in the By Laws.
    • For any act or commission injurious or prejudicial to the interest or welfare of the cooperative.
  4. No member is allowed to withdraw or terminate his membership if he has pending obligations to the cooperative. In like manner, a member who will be terminated for continuous failure to comply with obligations shall settle all her obligations to the cooperative before her application for termination is approved.
  5. A terminated member may appeal within thirty (30) days after the decision is promulgated, to the General Assembly whose decision whether in a general or special session shall be final. Pending a decision by a general assembly, the membership remains in force.
  6. Upon termination of membership, the BOD shall determine the book value of the member’s share capital, in no case to exceed the par value, as established at the year end audited financial statement nearest to the date of termination and shall fix the amount thereof in money to be paid subject to the availability of funds.
  7. A member dismissed terminated his membership from the coop shall be allowed to re-apply for membership.
  8. A member who voluntary terminated his membership shall be allowed to re-apply for membership after three(3) years.
  9. A termination fee of Five Hundred Pesos((P500.00) shall be charged from a member who terminates his membership.

Membership Development

Achievements and Rewards

  1. Criteria on Membership Incentive Awards
    1. Collection effectivity (participation in capital structure)
      • Yearly increasing voluntarily their share capital for at least 3 years.
      • Yearly increasing voluntarily their savings deposit for at least 3 years
      • Voluntarily replenishing the Mutual Assistance Program (MAP) and Fire Assistance Program (FAP).
    2. Member in Good Standing
      • Patronize the services regularly (Patronage record)
      • Good repayment record – not delinquent for at least 3 years
      • Attendance to Coop activities like Gen. Assembly, MES and other coop activities that need members’ participation
    3. Solicitation of fund for the cooperative
      • Prepared and submitted project proposal to funding agencies
      • Provided ideas to officers on fund sourcing
    4. Extra-ordinary activities that contributed to the up-liftment/growth of the cooperative or visible impact of coop programs and services to the member.
  1. The management shall identify the members who have exemplary achievements based on the above and recommend for approval by the BOD.
  2. The rewards shall be determined by the BOD which may be in cash or in kind, plaques or certificates and shall be given during the General Assembly.
  3. Rewards for the above achievements shall be taken from the Coop Guarantee Fund of the cooperative.
